Let’s start this party off right, shall we? If you’re like me, and we hope, dear reader, you are like me, you get frustrated with the fact that you can’t find a good venue for your favorite ear-ringing, jaw-rattling music. Grand Rapids isn’t lacking in bars and nightclubs, but what are few are places that play good ol’ fashion Heavy Metal. Rather than have you waste your time running around the River City looking for such a place, why don’t you come with me on a little journey to check out a couple of places that I have been.
This place is a bare bones rock joint with a bar, a few tables, and a large space for people to congregate in front of the stage. The Intersection does host a wide range of acts, but it has been a Grand Rapids staple for so long that one has to believe they are doing something quite right. It moved from its original location on Wealthy Street to the current spot at 133 Grandville Ave. SW several years ago. The move gave the venue a much needed addition of space. The Intersection is host to the annual Heavyweight Championship of Rock that showcases local Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands and celebrates its tenth birthday next year. Check out The Intersection at 133 Grandville Ave. SW or online at sectionlive.com and check back here for more great Metal bars!
