The Orange County chapter of the Campaign for Liberty held its 8th meeting on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at O’Boys on Fairbanks Ave in Winter Park. The Campaign for Liberty organization emerged from Congressman Dr. Ron Paul’s dynamic presidential bid, and has literally exploded in membership, not only here in the U.S., but worldwide.

The organization’s mission statement is: “to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity.”

Attendance at the meeting was strong, with well over 70 friends of liberty crowding into the back room to hear several brief presentations on the status and growth of the Orange County chapter as well as the world-wide organization. The Orange County chapter is rated by the larger organization as the fastest growing, having added many new members and Local Coordinators. In fact, Florida is now first in growth with 213 Local Coordinators and, and Orange County is first among counties now with 46 Local Coordinators, 185 members and still growing.

Updates were given on the “Audit the Fed” bill, H.R. 1207 and S. 604, which now boasts 303 sponsors in the House and 30 in the Senate. Also, as regards state business, progress was reported on the State Sovereignty bills supported by CFL: H.B. 19, the “Limiting the Scope and Exercise of Federal Power” bill; H.B. 21,  the "Florida Firearms Act" affirming all guns made in Florida do not fall under Federal purview; and the "Health Care Freedom Act" affirming your right not to participate in any Federal health care program. Support for all of these is gaining much momentum in Tallahassee.

Among the speakers were Matthew Falconer, front-running candidate for Orange County Mayor. In attendance at the meeting and slated to speak at the next CFL monthly meeting was Peg Dunmire, candidate for U.S. House, District 8, who is challenging incumbent Alan Grayson.

Campaign for Liberty promotes the traditional values upon which our republic was founded, and seeks to educate the public on the great benefits of liberty, free markets, sound money and non-interventionist foreign policy. There is no cost to join CFL, and the benefits are too many to recount here. The three core tenets of the Orange County CFL are: 1. Always use a diplomatic approach to spread the message of liberty (In the vein of Ben Franklin),  2. Everyone is a leader, 3. We are family.  The next meeting of Orange County Campaign for Liberty will take place on November 19 at 7:00 PM at O’Boys, 565 W. Fairbanks in Winter Park.  The next meeting of the Orange County Republican Executive Council (OCREC) is October 22.
