The Boston Herald reports today that Paul McCartney will play two concerts at Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox, in August.
The paper, in a story by Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa, says park management has applied to the city of Boston for a license to hold a concert, complete with pyrotechnics (and McCartney fans know what that means), at the stadium on Aug. 5 and 6 while the Red Sox are on the road in Tampa and New York.
No name is mentioned on the application, the story says, but it quotes Patricia Malone of the Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing, when asked about McCartney, saying that “there are rumors.” The full details won't come out until a public hearing June 22.
Is this beginning to resemble a tour? First, there was Halifax July 11, then Citi Field July 17-18 and now Boston Aug. 5-6.
Will there be more? There may very well be. A spokesman for Paul McCartney issued a "no comment" when we asked if other dates were possible.
