With the Fest for Beatles Fans starting Friday in Secaucus, N.J., what could be a better time for a play about Beatle fan convention attendees? That's what "Mop Top Festival," now playing through April 25 in Chicago is all about. Patrick McDonald wrote a review of the show on HollywoodChicago.com.

Sad news: Kathie Molland, the wife of Joey Molland of Badfinger, died earlier this week. Joey and Kathie Molland met in 1970 and married in 1972. She is survived by her husband and two sons. A memorial service will be held Saturday in Minnesota.  Here's her obituary in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. A blog post about her death with a quote from Paul Davie, a member of Molland's back-up band, the Fab Five, is in the Syracuse Post-Standard. Our sincere condolensces to the Molland family.

A new five-DVD set, Yesterday from Classic Rock Legends, examines the Beatles career from Hamburg to "Let It Be." Those interviewed in the set include Pete Best, one-time manager Allan Williams, Beatles associate Tony Bramwell and recording engineer Norman Smith.

Don't miss our post from Thursday afternoon about the success of the "Rock Band" video game without the Beatles in the picture.

This week's "Beatles Universe" show looks at the Beatles and their place in the 21st century music scene. Songs include the Beatles' "Free As a Bird," Paul McCartney's "The Songs They Were Singing" and George Harrison's "Looking For My Life." The show is heard at 9 p.m. Sundays (EST) on 94.9, the Rock (www.therock.fm).

Woody Lifton, late of the "Pop Goes the Beatles" radio show, has opened a new Beatles historical website at http://www.the-beatles-history.com. Thesite, still in development, has biographies, a "Covered and Uncovered" section, plus a section on the Beatles in the studio and a timeline. Planned is an area on artifacts, a photographers section and a blog, among other things.

Some acetates by the Beatles and others are being auctioned by Tracks. The link has pictures of the discs.

The Just Four Guys Beatles podcast now has its own blog that includes show archives and other information.

Just to clarify the item we ran last night about the "Change Begins Within" webcast, the webcast will feature backstage footage, but not the concert itself.
