Obama states, "I screwed up."
After loosing the second appointee due to failure to pay taxes, Obama bravely looked the country in the face and said, “I screwed up.”

On NBC’s Nightly News with Brian Williams, Obama goes on to say, “I’ve got to own up to my mistake. Ultimately, it’s important for this administration to send a message that there aren’t two sets of rules, you know, one fro prominent people, and one for ordinary folks who have to pay their taxes.”
What? Did we hear that right? Did the President of the United States of America just apologize? Did that apology come directly after the mistakes were made? Was it made without a big ploy to cover up the fact that he may have been wrong? No slew of statements from high-up government officials stumbling over untrue words? Wow.

He goes on to say, “I’m frustrated with myself, with our team. I’m here on television saying I screwed up.” He used the same words in many interviews with news anchors to be sure that his message was heard.

This comes after President Obama cemented his choice for Tom Daschle as the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Daschle isn’t the only appointee who has had issues with paying personal taxes since Obama took office.   Just last week, the Senate confirmed Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary even after it was revealed that the man who would be in charge of the IRS had just paid his back taxes. Just after Obama took office, he chose Killefer to be the Chief Performance Officer in the White House, and Deputy Director at the Office of Management and Budget. We then learned that Killefer had a tax lien on her home in 2005 for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on her hired help.

Maybe President Barack Obama is really what this country needs. He loves his wife, he adores his kids, he stands for change, and he apologizes when he screws up? Amazing. I bet there’s a room full of guys somewhere on unemployment that used to be on a task force for explaining away presidential screw-ups. Our faith should be stronger tonight. Good job, President Obama.
