A former Chicago TV news reporter who now lives in Puerto Vallarta says the streets are virtually deserted, bars most restaurants closed, and people are walking around with face masks. That is despite the fact that there have been no confirmed cases of the swine flu there.

The reporter also says that the city has run out of the Tamiflu anti-flu medication.

Puerto Vallarta is in the Mexican State of Jalisco.   Guadalajara is the capital of the state and is Mexico's second largest city.  For advice directly from the US Consulate in Guadalajara, click here.
