Ben Franklin told us that nothing is certain but death and taxes but the sage also reminded us that a penny saved is a penny earned. April 15, tax day, is a solemn occasion so liven it up with some of these deals meant to lift your spirits as the government lifts your wallet:

To easy your tax woes, Prairie Grass Café (Northbrook) will be raffling off a dinner for two. The drawing is open to everyone who eats at the American Contemporary restaurant on April 15th. While you’re there, consider launching your meal will the "Tax Evasion" - North Shore Distillery Gin #6, with fresh-squeezed lime juice, soda and Angostura bitters or "The Write Off" which consists of Woodford Reserve Bourbon, sweet vermouth and Door County Cherry juice. Get a jump on saving money with Le Colonial’s $1 Tax relief menu. Beginning Monday, April 13th through Friday, April 17th from 5 - 7 pm, Le Colonial serves a choice of five different appetizers for just $1 each.
