It seems that cheating politicians are always in the news.

Whenever an elected official’s extramarital affair is publicly exposed, everyone wonders the same thing:

Reasons Why Politicians Cheat

The reasons politicians cheat are complex and varied. In fact, there are probably as many reasons as there are politicians out there cheating. Below are some of the most common reasons politicians cheat The reasons listed below are just a few.

A Sense of Entitlement

Most politicians have a certain sense of entitlement. Many of them feel that they can do whatever they want with impunity, including having extramarital affairs. Since they consider themselves to be above the law, they feel they are exempt from the rules that apply to everyone else.

The Thrill of the Chase

Many cheaters actually thrive on the excitement associated with having an extramarital affair.
All the sneaking, lying, and scheming involved in keeping an affair hidden from public view gives them the same kind of adrenaline rush they’d get from skydiving, mountain climbing or high risk sports.

Ego-Embellishment Reasons

Politicians also cheat for a variety of ego-embellishment reasons. Having an extramarital affair can provide a boost to the already inflated ego that many politicians have. The cheater can mentally congratulate himself for being so clever, so cunning, so intellectually superior that he’s outwitted everyone around him by keeping his affair hidden behind closed doors.

Still other politicians engage in infidelity or extramarital affairs solely for the excitement of getting away with doing something that’s forbidden. They revel in the thought that they’re smart enough to elude detection by pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes.

The main reason many politicians cheat on their wives and have extramarital affairs is because they are confident that they can get away with it. And countless numbers of them do. We only hear about the ones who get caught. If they thought for one minute that their escapades would be exposed, most cheating politicians would never take such a chance. Even though they know what they’re doing is wrong, they’re convinced they can pull it off without getting caught.
