Last winter I was browsing around the Harley-Davidson of North Texas dealership and saw a gorgeous purple leather HD jacket. Not just any purple - but the rare, perfect blue / purple that looks really good on me. The jacket was $450 and according to the tag, was called "Sensation". I made the proper notes on my phone.
I also spotted a pair of boots there, ankle-high, black with red leather stitched at the front. They were called "Ranger" and sold for about $140. Again, proper notes were made about them on the phone.
This is where patience can be a valuable virtue.
By watching eBay, I saw when the boots came up for sale in my size for $49. They look great on me.
A few weeks later, the jacket came up for sale for $225. Not only that, another seller had the matching chaps for a mere $125 (marked down from $300).
Also, keep in mind that when it's in the high 90's outside, most people aren't thinking of buying leathers but this is a great time to be doing so.
By taking notes and patiently waiting for things to be listed for sale, I got 3 items I truly wanted that would have cost $963.43 (let's not forget sales tax!) for a mere $400 + $22 in shipping for a savings of $541.43.
