Visit Churchill Downs on October 5th and 6th to be a film extra.
The Walt Disney Studios issued an invitation for public participation in the production of its upcoming film, Secretariat. The movie will recount the story of the famed 1973 Triple Crown winning thoroughbred race horse.
Churchill Downs, in Louisville, Kentucky, will host part of the filming, including a “70’s Happening” casting call on Monday, October 5th, and Tuesday, October 6th. The Walt Disney Studios published a request for additional film extras (of all ages), particularly for crowd scenes at the racetrack.
Registration for “Win by a Mile” film extras will begin at 8:00 a.m. on October 5th and 6th at Churchill Downs’ Gate 10. The first 500 extras to sign up for the “70’s Happening” casting call will receive free hot dogs and sodas. In addition, drawings will be held for prizes and giveaways.
Disney staffers urge folks to dress in 1970s era attire and to pack snacks and refreshments (no alcoholic beverages) for their outing to the historic racetrack.
The moviemakers expect filming of Secretariat at Churchill Downs to last for five days, beginning October 5th.
Secretariat will feature Diane Lane (as Penny Chenery, Secretariat’s owner) and John Malkovich (as Lucien Laurin, Secretariat’s equine trainer).
