The lazy days of summer is the perfect time to relax and see a movie or two. Fortunately, there’s plenty of ways to see a movie in Orlando without having to cough up $10 or more for a ticket.
On the second Thursday of each movie, the Enzian holds its free “Popcorn Flicks” event (weather permitting). They show a classic movie in Winter Park along Park Ave. near the Amtrak station. It’s a great time to bring a blanket and a picnic dinner to enjoy the movie. The movie schedule is posted each month at enzian.org.
The Relax Grill on Lake Eola has movie night each week on Thursday at 8pm. The movies shown are second-run films, meaning they’ve left the theaters but haven’t made to DVD yet. While the movie is free, there’s still the expectation that patrons will buy dinner and/or drinks. It’s a great way to enjoy dinner and a movie with a date or good friends without breaking the bank.
If you want to see movies before they come out, then follow Channel Six on Twitter at @6flix. They occasionally hold contests for followers to get free movie tickets to movie previews and premieres.
For the kids, Regal Cinemas is holding its annual free family film festival which features children's movies on the weekends.
Finally, if you do see movies frequently in the theaters, be sure to sign up for the movie theaters’ membership clubs. They are all free, and they all give you free movie tickets and other bonuses like free popcorn after buying a certain number of movie tickets.
Happy movie-going!
