The Utah Arts Festival begins Thursday, June 25 and goes through Sunday, June 28 film enthusiasts should be as pleased as punch.
This year marks the seventh annual Fear No Film Festival sponsored by the Salt Lake Film Center and the Utah Arts Festival. Short films are entered in the categories of Who, What, Where, When, Why and How will be screened daily in the Salt Lake Downtown Library Auditorium.
The festival includes independent short films from Australia, Great Britain, Canada, Israel and Belgium. Many states are also represented including California, Oklahoma and Illinois.
Utah short films include “Up in the Air” directed by Wes Llewellyn, “From the Ash Heap” directed by Daniel Pimentel, “Oil Tribe” directed by Rick Simon, “derek 178” directed by Trevor Dopp and “Heels Over Head” directed by Lonny Danler.
The festival will also include the short film “Vapid Lovelies” by Utah director Frank Feldman in the Best of Other Fests screenings at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26.
The festival will also host the Utah Short Film of the Year competition. Entries include “Sister Wife” directed by Jill Orschel and “Social Obscurity” directed by Aubry Hollingshead and Steve Schmit. Four other films will be featured in the competition. All entries will be playing at 8 p.m. this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Salt Lake Downtown Library Auditorium.
