It’s official: Cat lovers, we must move to Japan.
In yet another example of Tama love, the Wakayama Electric Railway has almost finished a special train that features Tama, the Japanese stationmaster cat, in all of her glorious cuteness.
With only one month to go until the train is ready for transit, there has been quite a bit of media coverage in Japan (and abroad) about the train, which will become an adorable piece of art in motion (see pictures at the end of this article). To get the inside scoop on how the Tama-themed train is coming along, watch the video below. (While the visuals are great, I warn you: It’s all in Japanese!)
I know I mentioned in before in my “Maron the Japanese stationmaster dog” article, but I cannot express how thrilled I am that former strays like Tama and Maron are getting their chance in the limelight. Many people have the wrong idea about strays, assuming that they are unfriendly, unhealthy or bad with children. Tama and my own cat Henri (who was a stray in my former apartment complex) prove those kinds of assumptions to be incorrect.
Now don’t get me wrong, pets—just like people—can be moody or unfriendly when in physical or emotional pain. But the majority of strays and rescued animals are the best pets that you could ever hope to have.
