While I love all of the pet care videos that I feature, I must admit that this week’s pet care video of the week — dealing with rabbit care — was definitely one of my favorites. Not only does the expert featured in the video really know what she’s talking about, I was absolutely surprised — in a good way — by the demeanor of the rabbit featured in the video.

While I’ve had some interaction with rabbits during my life, my interaction with them has been limited at best. It was not until watching the following videos (produced by Expert Village in conjunction with Extra Care Animal Hospital) that I developed a better understanding of how rabbits behave as pets. Now, I would even go so far as to say that I would like a pet rabbit of my own. But as my menagerie is already full, I will have to wait to own a floppy eared pet of my own until a more appropriate time (and more living space!) presents itself.

If the videos below aren’t enough to satiate your cuteness craving, you can also check out the lolrabbit picture that we featured last week by clicking here.

General Tips About Rabbit Care

A great introduction to the general rabbit care. Not only that, but the rabbit featured in the video (his name is Halibut) is probably the most adorable rabbit I have ever seen.

Rabbit Bedding and Cages

While many people seem to think that rabbits are just larger versions of hamsters with floppy ears, their cage requirement do differ from animals like guinea pigs and ferrets. Watch this video to learn how to properly prepare a living environment for your rabbit.

Where You Should Keep Your Pet Rabbit

If you answered “dryer” you answered incorrectly. While rabbits do need to get out and get some exercise, letting them use the dryer as a larger version of a running wheel really isn’t the safest means for them to stretch those long limbs of theirs.

What to Feed Your Pet Rabbit

While there’s the typical stereotype of feeding rabbits carrots, believe it or not, rabbits like variety in their diet just like we do.

How to Safely Pick Up Your Pet Rabbit

This was definitely my favorite video of the bunch. There is just something about cuddling an animal that is good for the heart.

How Rabbits Interact with Other Pets

Have other pets but still want a rabbit? This video is a great place to start if you want to know how potentially adding a rabbit to your household will affect your other pets.

And last, but most certainly not least, Why You Should Not Give Rabbits as Holiday Pets. This one is especially important as thousands of rabbits are left homeless each year by individuals who discover that they didn’t really want a pet rabbit, just the novelty of owning one around the holiday season.

If you would like to adopt a rabbit, please consider if you will be able to keep the rabbit long-term or if you will tire of it after only a few weeks. Animals have feelings too, and adopting a rabbit only to abandon it shortly after you adopted it can cause irreversible psychological and emotional harm to any animal.

And if you are planning to adopt a rabbit, please consider adopting from a local shelter instead of a pet shop or private dealer.
