October 22 - Nick O'Hern leads the Frys.com Open after round one by shooting a 63 in which he was on fire with the putter. The left-handed Australian had nine birdies and shot an astounding 28 on the par 35 back nine in which he only putted nine times.

“Pretty scary, I’ve never done that before. I was pretty happy," said O'Hern after the round.

Several low scores were shot at the Grayhawk's Raptor course in Scottsdale, Arizona, and scores are only expected to get lower as the weather will be in the high 80's with no wind for the rest of the tournament.

Following close behind O'Hern are Bob Heintz and Heath Slocum who both shot 64, while D.A. Points, Rory Sabbatini, Greg Owen, and rookie Rickie Fowler each shot 65.

United States Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples made his first appearance on tour since early September and shot a 67 that saw five birdies in a six hole stretch that leaves him four off the lead.

The Frys.com Open is the third Fall series event on tour this year. Matt Kuchar won the first event at Turning Stone while Martin Laird won the Shriners Hospital Open.

To putt more like O'Hern did in round one, remember these important fundamentals:

  •  Focus on the back of the ball, make solid contact, and accelerate through the ball.
  •  Follow through down the target line.
  •  Two most important considerations are the line and speed of the putt.
  •  Create a comfortable pre -putt routine, and stick with it.
