Motown Legends at Genesee Theatre on August 8
Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, along with Stick N Move, has proudly announced that two of Motown’s
greatest legends, The Stylistics and The Chi-Lites; will perform on Saturday, August 8 at 8 pm. Make plans for a great evening of Motown magic in Waukegan this summer.
The Stylistics
The Stylistics, one of the best-known Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s, boast an impressive portfolio of hits including You Make Me Feel Brand New, You Are Everything, Break Up to Make Up and Betcha by Golly Wow, to name a few. The group has recorded six top ten US R&B albums, was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004 and has songs that continue to be covered or sampled by today’s current artists like Aaron Neville, Michael McDonald, Vanessa Williams, Boyz II Men and Mary J. Blige. In an answer to popular demand, band members Herbert Murrell, Van Fields, Harold “Eban” Brown and Airron Love have released a new album, The Same Way, and continue to tour, wowing audiences around the world. Originally, “The Hi-Lites”, The Chi-Lites changed their name to pay homage to their hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Their four-part harmonies, layered productions and smooth vocals led the group to eleven top ten US R&B singles including, Oh Girl and Have you Seen Her. Together since the late 1950s, the group has had four albums reach the top ten in the US R&B Charts, and was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2005. Band members Marshall Thompson, Robert “Squirrel” Lester and Frank Reed most recently released the album, Love Your Way Through as well as All Time Greatest Studio, a compilation of bands most memorable hits.
Tickets for the Motown performance will go on sale Friday, June 12 at 10 am. Tickets are priced at $38, $48 and $58. Tickets can be purchased at the Genesee Theatre Box Office or through Ticketmaster.
