Ravinia featured Pop artists June 2009
Pop/rock legends and their classic songs will dominate the 2009 season at Ravinia in Highland Park this summer. The June lineup of featured pop artists in June include Gipsy Kings, EmmyLou Harris, the BoDeans, Goran Bregovic, Indigo Girls, Joe Cocker and ABBA Tribute Band.
Get ready for a great night of music under the stars at the beautiful Ravinia grounds in Highland Park, on the North Shore of the Chicago area.
Gipsy Kings June 6
Gipsy Kings, who are largely responsible for bringing the joyful sounds of pop-oriented flamenco to the world with such hits as “Bamboleo,” return on June 6.
Three Girls and Their Buddy June 7
Music Awards and six Academy of Country Music Awards, among many others. Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin and Buddy Miller come together for a collaborative show entitled “Three Girls and Their Buddy” on June 7. With a long-established history of musical associations, these four artists perform together, sharing the songs and stories that have defined their venerated careers.

Goran Bregovic June 14
Balkan music icon and acclaimed film composer, Goran Bregovic, brings His Wedding & Funeral Orchestra to Ravinia to make their festival debut on June 14. The ensemble, which consists of instrumentalists and singers, celebrates the music of Europe’s gypsy tradition.
Indigo Girls June 26
Joe Cocker on June 28
Cocker’s distinctive, gritty voice has made hits of “You Are So Beautiful,” “Up Where We Belong” and “With a Little Help From My Friends.” This concert honors the 40th anniversary of Woodstock.
ABBA Tribute Band June 30
ABBA tribute band The Music of ABBA as performed by Arrival from Sweden. The June 30 concert will feature a new dancing section at the front of the pavilion where guests can dance the night away for a special ticket price
