Ravinia featured Pop artists August 2009
Pop/rock legends and their classic songs dominate the 2009 season at Ravinia in Highland Park this summer. The August lineup of featured pop artists at Ravinia includes The Temptations and The Four Tops; Peter, Paul & Mary; Pat Benatar and Blondie; George Thorogood & the Destroyers; Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal and Carrie Underwood. On September 3 Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina will perform at the popular outdoor music concert venue.

The Temptations and The Four Tops August 7
Motown legends The Temptations and The Four Tops, who were presented with the 2009 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, join forces in a double bill on Aug. 7.
Peter, Paul & Mary August 10
One of the most successful folk singing groups of the 1960s, Peter, Paul & Mary return to the festival on Aug. 10, and in honor of the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, Ravinia will host the world’s largest lawn party catered by Levy Restaurants.
Pat Benatar with New Wave Band Blondie August 17
Four-time Grammy winner Pat Benatar, with such hits as “Love Is a Battlefield” and “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” teams up in a double bill with New Wave band Blondie, famous for the songs “Heart of Glass,” “Call Me” and “One Way or Another,” on Aug. 17.
George Thorogood & The Destroyers August 20
Blues and rock come together on Aug. 20 for a double bill featuring guitarist/singer Jonny Lang and George Thorogood & The Destroyers.
Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal August 21-22
With her mix of blues, pop and rock, Bonnie Raitt has kept herself on the charts with singles including “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” “Nick of Time” and “Something To Talk About.” She returns to the festival on Aug. 21-22 on a double bill with blues singer/songwriter Taj Mahal, who fuses the music of Africa, the Caribbean and South Pacific into one great sound.
