Summerfest festival headlining music at Marcus Amphitheater
Summerfest, the World’s largest music festival, in held every summer on the Lake Michigan lakefront. The festival features over 700 bands on 11 stages over an 11 day period. The 2009 festival runs from June 25 to July 5, from noon to midnight.
Milwaukee is about 60 miles north of the Illinois/Wisconsin State line, and is a great daytrip from the Chicago area.
Situated on the beautiful lakefront, the Summerfest Grounds are situated on 75 acres along the shore line. Summerfest is a classy festival, with several stages of entertainment running simultaneously. Enjoy a snack or a meal from one of the many food booths representing some of Milwaukee’s favorite restaurants. Visit the ethnic foods section for unique treats for the taste buds.
Beer is plentiful at the beer tents found throughout the grounds. Many of the old Milwaukee breweries, are gone, but the legacy of the nickname “Beer City” remains. Non-beer drinkers can find martinis wine and soft drinks.
Most of the musical entertainment is included in the price of admission (adults $15). Headlining acts at the Marcus Amphitheatre are an additional admission fee. Following are the headliners at the Marcus Amphitheatre.
