CLTV has reported that there is a tribute tentatively planned for Michael Jackson in his hometown of Gary, Indiana. The tribute is tentatively planned for July 10, 2009 at a Gary steelyard.

The Jackson family lived in Gary, Indiana when they got their start in show business and signed on with Motown records, in Detroit, Michigan. Gary is about 30 miles southeast of Chicago, Illinois.

Jackson was about 11 when the family moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue their recording career. Michael Jackson last visited Gary in 2003.

Michael Jackson is Gary's most famous son and the community is proud of the association. Fans of the King of Pop have been gathering at this humble boyhood home since in the news of his death, at the age of 50, on June 25, 2009.
