Chaddsford Winery - (taken by author) Surprise your loved one with a special weekend getaway over the long Labor Day weekend. The historic Brandywine is the perfect place to spend that romantic getaway weekend. In Brandywine, you can visit wineries, listen to jazz, visit historic landmarks, and stay in beautiful historical bed and breakfasts. This weekend the Chaddsford Winery is hosting its annual Jazz Festival, just another reason to spend a weekend getaway in the Brandywine. What is more romantic than moon light, soft Jazz, a bottle of wine, and a picnic dinner for two?


WHERE TO STAY:
Book a room at a local Bed and Breakfast near the winery. There are two very quaint and historic B&Bs near the Chaddsford Winery. The Pennsbury Inn, just minutes away, offers seven sumptuous bedrooms, private baths, large living room with huge open fireplace, library, music room and private conference room. The Cornerstone offers couples a choice of suites or private cottages. The cottages are complete with private entrance, individually controlled heat and air conditioning, cable TV, fully equipped kitchens living room, private baths, telephones, and alarm clocks. Several of the cottages also have private porches and gas fireplaces.

WHERE TO EAT:
The Pace One Country Inn is a quaint restaurant that provides gourmet dinning. The menu has a variety of delicious dishes that include salmon, filet mignon, lobster, and pork chops.
They are open for dinner on Friday – Saturday of the weekend at 4:30pm-10:00pm. Pace One service a Sunday Brunch Buffet at 10:30am- 2:30pm and Sunday Dinner at 4:30pm- 9:00pm.

WINERY EVENT:
Chaddsford Winery Labor Day Weekend Jazz Festival, Sept 5-7 – 12 to 6pm
Admission is $25 per person and includes wine tastings, souvenir glass, and the jazz concerts. The concert is held on the winery grounds and foods are available from Pace One at the Winery. The event allows you to bring your own folding chairs, blanket, and picnic, however all wine must be purchase at the winery. The festival will present several different bands each of the three days. Several of the bands include the Victory Jazz Orchestra and the Budesa Brothers. The winery also holds tours of the winery and has a wine shop for purchasing your favorite wine.

HOW TO GET TO THE WINERY:
From Philadelphia: Take I-95 South to Rt. 322 West for 7 miles, then left onto US 1.
From Delaware: Take Route 52 North to US 1, then right about 2 miles.
