Sonia Sotomayor hearings interrupted by activists

In this video, an abortion activist shouts out while Senator Dianne Feinstein is giving her opening statement during Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation hearing. The abortion rights activist shouted out, “Senator, what about the unborn? Abortion is murder!” This was the first outburst that took place during the week long Senate confirmation hearings that will determine whether Sonia Sotomayor will become the first Latina justice on the United States supreme court.

Patrick Leahy, Judiciary Committee Chairman, quickly called for the removal of the protestor and stated, “Let me make very clear, there will be no outbursts allowed in this committee either for or against the nominee, either for or against any positions Senator Sessions or I may have.
