Two great events promoting health and fitness are taking place in Boise this weekend, A Mile for Men’s Health and the Fat For Food Fitness Challenge. Time to lace up those shoes!

First up is A Mile For Men’s Health, which takes place today at 6:15 p.m., starting at the intersection of 6th and Main streets, in downtown Boise. This event promotes prostate cancer awareness and provides free screenings to the men of the Treasure Valley. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 6 men, but survival rates are high, especially with early detection.

You can still register at the event until 5 p.m. today. The registration fee is $25. Additionally, men 40 and older can get a free prostate exam at the Boise City Hall, 150 N. Capitol Blvd., today from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The second great health-related event taking place this weekend is the Fat For Food Fitness Challenge. If you are 18 or older, you can register to participate in this fun challenge that not only helps you lose weight, but benefits the Idaho Foodbank. The official launch is Saturday at 11 a.m., and it takes place at the Boise Hawks Stadium. Participants will be weighed in and will have access to various educational events throughout the summer. There will also be activities for kids. For every pound that participants lose, corporate sponsors will donate a pound of food to the Idaho Foodbank. The goal is to reach 10,000 pounds by the end of the summer.

There are several fun elements to the Challenge, including auctions for cool prizes and a day at Roaring Springs for participants and their family for a finale celebration.
