The most common question in Sioux Falls on fitness is; How many days a week? How much Time a day?

How many days a week?

Basing this off of a normal working person trying to lose weight and tone up. As many days as possible without going over 6! The more the better, but this does not mean 6 is needed. 2 or 3 would be fine; this depends completely on need. There must be at least one rest day!

How much time a day?

An hour is a good amount, but there are a lot of factors.

Weight lifting

  • This should be done about 3 times a week taking up about 20 minutes of your time.

  • Separate Upper body (chest, upper back, arms) from lower body (Everything below waist line)

  • Accomplish at least one exercise per muscle group that is challenging and hard. Take only 1 minute rest between each exercise. Drink a lot of water.

Cardio (treadmill, bike, stairs ect..)

  • This can be done everyday at the gym, but be careful of injury and do not try to “run past” any pain. Try to mix it up a bit and split up the time available with more than one machine or activity. Remember you Heart Rate!

Stretching and abs

  • Stretching should be done at the end of every workout. 20 second per stretch! Do not force it.

  • Abdomen work outs should be done every other day. Mix it up a bit and try to stay away from doing just crunches.

So How much Time and How many days again?

If a basic outline is needed just do 4 days a week with an hour each workout and work hard Sioux Falls!

If control over the workout is the interest then everyday may be different depending on if the workout will consist of Abs, Stretching, Lifting, and cardio or just a few of them. The best thing to do is to sit down with a personal trainer at a local gym and pay for an outline or a workout plan. Please make sure they are qualified to give you this information and visit a doctor to make sure that plan is right for you.
