The total hardware sales for September have been tallied up. The top seller of September wasn’t the Nintendo DS this time; instead it was the Sony PS3. Moving 310,000 units in the month of September, the PS3 saw a major increase in sales. Thanks to the new PS3 Slim and price drop, Sony was able to have a very strong pre-holiday month. Coming in a close second, though, is the Nintendo DS. The sales for the DS are always strong, so this should come as no surprise.
Unfortunately, the Nintendo Wii is still struggling. Sales are beginning to get stagnant. With only New Super Mario Bros. releasing as the big holiday game for Wii, one must wonder if the price drop is enough to spark new interest in the system. Even with the low sales for the month September, you have to Nintendo and the Wii credit for the success is has had up to this point.
