How much do Jon and Kate make?
According to MSNBC, Jon and Kate get paid a reported $25,000 per episode. Multiply that by an average of 35 episodes a year and that’s $875,000 a year! Plus, you have to account for the sponsored vacations, free furniture, products, plastic surgery and I’d be surprised if they pay for much of anything.
US magazine reports that Jon and Kate have raked in as much as $100,000 in free merchandise from various sponsors including Disney World, airline tickets, Sky Box tickets to various sporting events, house rentals, groceries, clothing etc.
They’ve come a long baby...a long way since the birth of their sextuplets where they were reportedly in a much different place financially. Allegedly, the Gosselin births were paid for by you, the tax payer via Medicaid. While Jon and Kate certainly aren't the first
or last parent(s) of rabbit sized litters to rely on some form of government assistance to pay for the births, it's hard to feel sorry for their current, luxurious lifestyle. Multiple births are a huge financial drain on the medical system. The births of the Gosselins sextuplets could have easily cost the tax payers 20 million plus.
It would come as no surprise for most if the couple decides to stay together, if for no other reason than a business arrangement. It’s lucrative, if nothing more than a business partnership. And this may very well be the crux of the criticism against the couple. I’ve heard critics lament about the children being exploited. I don’t think it would bother people that much if they were only doing this to themselves, but the children aren’t able to give consent. So, are the Gosselins selling their children out for money? Of course they are, but it the real question is, would most people do the same thing under the same circumstances? Almost a million a year? That’s no chump change. Especially when neither parent is working a 9 to 5 job.
