Yoga Instructor Shanna Haun

Having taught all over the Kansas City area for four years, Shanna Haun is happy to be the resident yoga instructor at Blue Valley Recreational Center, where she can fulfill her mission of teaching yoga in a precise and compassionate manner that makes it accessible to students of all skill levels. (Click here for more information on Shanna’s classes.)

Shanna’s love of teaching yoga is evident in her joyful demeanor, which instantly makes her classroom a welcoming atmosphere full of positive energy. Her one-hour Hatha Yoga classes progress slowly, focusing on step-by-step alignment and safety. Students are encouraged to determine the best level of poses for their own yoga practice.

Shanna believes that yoga helps create a sense of awareness and empowerment that can transcend the classroom. She loves seeing students of different sizes, genders, ages, and previous yoga experience learn to feel good about themselves and become empowered by what they learn in class. She views her class as an opportunity to help students feel attuned to their bodies on all levels (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) and connected to their inner wisdom.

"The more we can move through our lives with awareness, the more mindful and purposeful we will feel, and our lives will have greater meaning."  ~Shanna Haun

Though her students may be relative newcomers to yoga, they approach class with an enthusiasm that surely stems from Shanna’s compassionate and supportive teaching style. Everyone in her classes — herself included — comes away feeling happier, more optimistic, and more energized.
