Your home's interior may be beautiful, but what do you see when you are inside your home looking through your windows? Maybe you see a plain grassy lawn, a fence, power lines, or your neighbor's home. Do you get any shade to keep your home cool and reduce the glare on your windows? Is there anything of interest outside worth looking at?
Consider planting a shrub, vine, or tree outside your windows. Now is a great time for planting if you are budget conscious. Several garden centers have marked their plants 1/2 off starting around Memorial Day and the plants will probably go to 70% off around Labor Day.
I would like to encourage you to plant at least one tree in your yard per family member. When a child is born, commemorate that occasion by planting a new tree. Trees are not only beautiful, they are also very beneficial. They improve air quality, provide shade which will reduce your air conditioning requirements and the amount of water your lawn needs, provide a home for birds, and they actually increase your home's value.
