Bachelorette host Chris Harrison guides Jillian through a difficult decision in the
deliberation room.

Now that the dust has settled and we've realized Jillian still has 10 guys to sort through before picking her final rose recipient, let's analyze what just happened on episode four.

In an earlier recap, we discussed Wes and whether or not the dude's got a girlfriend. Whether or not you find it "shocking" that a guy would go on a reality show for the quote "wrong reasons," it seems that's what's happening here. And Jillian's got the next couple weeks to figure out who she can trust and who she should send home.

During the big confrontation, just after Jillian cancelled the night's cocktail party so she could figure some things out, Chris Harrison consoles the bachelorette. ''We've gotta go into that rose ceremony and we've gotta just bring it up with these guys and hopefully they'll man up and tell the truth," he surmises. (GO..team!)

Back in the waiting room of rosebud doom, Harrison gives the guys a half ultimatum. ''If you have something to say, let's say it now.'' Silence, silence and more awkward silence follow until good-ol'-boy Jake pipes up.

“I'm here to find love," Jake begins. "I would be really, really pissed if I knew somebody was here with a girlfriend taking away time I could have time with Jillian.” (If too-perfect Jake doesn't get picked in the end, he's a ripe contender for the next Bachelor season.)

Other guys chime in and proclaim their innocence, thus ensuring that they are here for the "right reasons." Michael comes off a little too junior high with his, "I've got a straight-up crush on the girl" and if some of the guys don't like her, they should just leave.

Surprise, surprise. None of the guys fess up and Jillian is left to rest on her laurels and sense of "good judgment" in order to narrow down this bunch of douches, and a few good men.

Some other minor surprises take place this episode. Let's analyze them:

  •  “Curling’s about flexibility, balance and touch--and I got all three," Juan says. The surprise? That Juan and Dave got along this episode. Fortunately for their team (and with no thanks to Juan's superior sense of "touch"), Jesse makes a great shot on the ice, winning a date for his team with Jillian. Dave, Robby and Jake join Juan and Jesse in the winner's circle while the other five guys go home to sulk. Jesse gets the date rose, and Jillian remarks they got off to a slow start, but she's looking forward to a future "connection."

  • The awkward two-on-one date with Jillian, Mike and Mark--where to begin? First off, the look on Mark's face when Mike starts running toward Jillian to greet her is priceless. (Why didn't I think of that? If I don't run, I lose. If I run, I lose.) Looking like the poster-boy for He's just not that into you, Mark saunters over and gives Jillian a half-hearted hug before jumping in the helicopter. Making the date more awkward, Mike sits in the middle! Yes, that's right. Jillian and Mike snuggle up and hold hands in the helicopter while Mark enjoys the feel of cold steel on one side and a man's thigh on the other.

At dinner, Jillian connects with Mark over a heart-to-heart, and ends up (surprise!) giving him the rose! She denies Mike any more time, saying to viewers that she's more concerned with finding a guy who's had his heart broken than the easy guy who's obviously into her. Even though she knew Mike would treat her "like gold," she didn't feel as strong of an attraction there, leading to a really difficult decision. She likes a man who's comatose a challenge, that's all.

  • Dave leans in for a kiss, and Jillian denies it! Drunk something other than love, Dave puts his worst foot forward this week by going on and on about Jillian's *** and her ****. Grabbing at her blouse and blabbering on about how hot she looks in spandex pants isn't cutting it for the bachelorette, and, much like she did after Brian's naked pool stunt the other week, she turns and offers her cheek to Dave rather than her lips. Her kisses, after all, are hardly community property after that western tongue-a-thon last week. She's only kissed Robby, Reid, Kiptyn, Jake, Wes and a few other guys and actually meant it.

Speaking of kissing, Jillian and Kiptyn really steamed it up in the kitchen this week on their cook-at-home date in Jillian's (rented) condo. ''That's every girl's dream," Jillian says, "For her to be in the kitchen and sort of like hot and flustered because she's so worried if something turned out right or wrong, and her guy comes and kisses her right on that part of her neck.'' Sigh... (On the flip side, if you want to see a not-steamy kitchen scene, be sure to check out Emeril on Jon and Kate Plus 8. The only things cooking here are the broccoli and Kate's temper.)

Kiptyn reveals something very important this date. ''I don't tend to pursue people. Like, I find the good in everybody, like you said, so I end up with people that come to me, type thing.'' While this should be a huge red flag, Jillian is too caught up in his lips, eyes and smoking bod to remotely care. She's flattered that he came on the show, knowing it's out of his comfort zone to actually pursue a woman and fight for her. They continue to "connect" all night, and Kiptyn gets the rose. Is this a sign of more to come?

What's in store next week? In his blog on EW.com, host Chris Harrison promises next week's episode will offer, "one of the biggest surprises we encountered this season... and it leads to one of the most emotional episodes we've ever had."
