Earth Day is a great way to spend some time with your kids and talk about the environment. One fun way to get the conversation going is to make crafts celebrating Earth Day! Here are some fun crafts pulled from various websites that are (for the most part) quick and easy. Take a peek by clicking on the title of the craft and see what you can make with your little one.
Animal jars: The are really cute animal jars made from empty glass jars. It's a quick and easy activity that will be useful when completed since they can hold miscellaneous items, too!
Magazine holder: What a great idea! This magazine holder is made from an old cereal box! It's easy and will be a unique way to store your magazines. Your kiddo will be proud of his creation, especially when it's being used in your home (although it makes a nice gift, too!).
Coffee grind fossils: You already drink coffee, so why not use the grounds to make a fun craft? You probably had no idea you could make fossils from common household items and coffee grounds, but you can! It's quick and easy, and will be very entertaining and educational for your little one.
Ladybug rocks: Let your children make ladybug rocks! Find some rocks in the garden, paint them red, green, orange, or whatever color you want, and then use a sharpie to draw the dots. It's really easy and make great decorations.
Rain stick: What kiddo doesn't like a rainstick? This craft can be made with items you most likely already have around the house. The finished product is cute and let's your little one be musical! Bring on the rain!
Cloud wind puppet: This is an easy craft that when finished will give your kids a toy to play with. Once the wind puppet is done they can pretend to be the wind and watch the streamers fly in the breeze.
Coffee filter planet earth: The Planet Earth made from a coffee filter can be a craft that will keep your kids busy for a long time. All you need is some coffee filters, washable markers, and eye droppers or squirt bottles! Kids will enjoy coloring the coffee filter and then using water to make the colors bleed.
Pine Cone Bird Feeder: Feed the birds on Earth Day with this easy craft. Once it's finished, you can hang it outside and watch the birds flock to it!
Butterfly wand: Another coffee filter craft, but they seem to be easy and fun! With this craft, your child will have a lovely butterfly when the project is finished. She can help it 'fly' around the house!
Growing grass in a pot or cup: Very simple and fun to watch grow. Just grab a pot or cup, fill 2/3 of the way with soil, sprinkle on some grass seed, add a little more soil, water, and sit back! Of course, a hefty helping of sunshine won't hurt, either. Kids will love checking on their grass every day and will also love to water it.
