Summer is here. Are you dreaming of walking barefoot on the beach? You might be thinking twice if you’re staying in the DC area, but thanks to the efforts of some pro-active groups, DC residents can make a difference in their local environment, have some serious fun, and end up with some clean space to stick their toes in the sand.
This summer, Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation, a national nonprofit committed to protecting the world’s oceans, waves and beaches, are traveling coast to coast cleaning up America’s beaches with theBarefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project.
Now in its third year, the project encourages local residents to come out, clean their beach and help keep it “barefoot-friendly.” Won't you help? Barefoot Wine and Surfrider will be in Washington DC on Saturday, July 18th completing a river cleanup at Hains Point (east of Potomac Park) and invite volunteers to join them afterward at the Hard Rock Café for a post clean-up celebration!
Take a stand in the sand. Help Barefoot Wines and Surfrider take back our beach!
