It's stadium season! This week we'll look at how to get to RFK Stadium using public transportation. And why might you want to go there? DC United and Washington Freedom, the city's soccer teams began its season a few weeks ago. DC 101 is hosting its annual Chili Cook-Off next month, and the stadium is a site for free parking for Nationals games (we'll review getting to the ballgame next week but if you can't wait, WMATA has you covered). You'll want to take transit to the stadium. The venue has parking, but walking (if you're capable) will save time getting out of the lot, boost team spirit on your walk to the game, and if you're like me, allow more time and leeway for celebratory beverages.

Metro: Stadium-Armory on the Blue and Orange lines is the closest Metro station. It's also 3-4 blocks from the stadium. You'll want the 19th and Burke Streets exit. From there follow 19th Street for two blocks and head right on E. Capitol Street. Capitol Street will take you to the stadium. You'll probably be following the crowd.

Metrobus: Several routes will take you to the stadium. Double check the route's schedule before leaving in case it doesn't run the day you're taking it (example: weekend games or concerts). 97 (to Union Station) and B2 (to Mount Rainier) should cover weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
