You want to buy a pet but not sure what. You need to know about a particular breed and would love some input from someone that has actually owned one. Pet store help is great but information from someone that has actually owned one or still has it is far greater knowledge than what you will get from a clerk. Wondering where to go to buy this pet? What breeder is recommended near you? Are you curious about what happens if you need to board your pet and where to go? Well there is a relatively new site designed to help you with just that and so much more. This site was designed by a man to help with the questions he and so many of us had all had and did not know where to go. A book can only give you textbook knowledge and the day to day routines are best from an experienced person that owned that pet. Brett Hodges, founder of RightPet, has done just that. He has created a way to help people get a better idea of what different pets are really like. This site has so much knowledge on it that it could take you hours to look through.

On the site it covers several different tabs for Dogs, Cats, Birds, Fish, Reptiles, Small Mammals and Invertebrates. There are 3 more categories that are coming soon which will be Horses, Amphibians and Livestock. Each one of these tabs below may be within the categories just noted and they each provide different information. See below:

• Breeds – This is where you can find out information on all different breeds of the pets you are looking for.
• Adoption – This is where people have rated either shelters or rescues. Shelters are where there is a facility that shelters the animals until adoption and a rescue is where there is one person or a group of people that house animals or find temporary homes for animals until they can be adopted by their forever home. Find that adoption place
• Boarding – You can find out the best places near you that other people have had their own pets in. Here you will find out the good qualities in a particular boarding facility.
• Breeders – Here you can find out where to buy a particular breed of pet. People that had a good experience at a facility can let others know as well. It is always nice to know of someone that got a great dog from a breeder that you are looking into.
• Clubs – Here you will find different types of clubs. For dogs you’ll find Agility and Breed. If you are looking to get your dog into agility and its competitions then browse this list of agility clubs. If you are looking for a club on your particular breed then browse the breed clubs. Here you can get other information about your breed as well as meet-n-greets. Other pets have different clubs as well, you will just have to take a look and see.
• Groomers – You have a poodle and need it groomed. Where do you go that is good? You do not know anyone that has their dog groomed so no one to ask. Search this area to see where others in your area are going. This will give you the insights to the groomer’s places.
• Pet-Friendly hotels – Wanting to plan a trip but don’t want to leave Fluffy or Fido? You don’t have to. There are so many hotels now that let you bring your pet companion. Here you will be able to search where others have stayed and what their experience was like with their pets.
• Pet Sitters – Ok, you planned your trip but the pet cannot go. Now you need to find a pet sitter to come and watch your beloved pets. Who can you trust? Who has the best credentials? Here you can see who others have used and who they trusted.
• Trainers – Need some extra training for that bad behavior you just cannot break your pet of? Look no further, check out the trainer area. Others have given their opinions of trainers they have used and what they used them for. Here you should be able to find a good match for your little issues.
• Forums – This is located as a button in the particular pet section. Here you can chat with others in a group setting about all of these different items and ask other questions you may have. Here is get a little more in depth about the clubs and different groups your pets and you can be a part of.
• Aquarium Maintenance and Supply – Ok, this is only for the fish but I did not have to tell you that, right? Here you can find the best placed to purchase the aquarium supplies you need to create the best tank atmosphere you can. People that have had the best service or the best of luck getting things they wanted rated these places here.
• Pet Stores – Here people rated the best pet stores to find the pet you are looking for. They rated which ones actually had the pet and how knowledgeable the staff was when selling it to them. They tell you which stores had the best selections and the best accessories.
• Importers – This is mainly for the fish and reptiles. This is a place to go when you are trying to find that hard to get pet and maybe only an importer will do. But where do you go? Go here and see who others have used and what their experiences were.
• Habitat Maintenance and Supply – These two are for the reptiles and invertebrates. Here you will find where to go to but the most natural surroundings to make your pet feel nice and at home. Here you can locate places that others have had great success getting what they needed.
• Rescue – This is for the small mammals and the reptiles. Here they do not offer shelter information as most shelter does not take these pets. Therefore you have to go to rescue places to find them. Here you will find rescue places in your area that handle this particular pet and maybe see there is not one and start your own.

Keep in mind, that most of these listed above have the option of searching by zip code to find a location that is nearest you. Just look to the right and plug in your information and see what pops up. You are also provided a map there as well.

Brett Hodges really knew what he was doing when he created this website. Through his own experiences of selecting a pet that just was not right for their family environment and also dealing with trying to figure out what pet would be right he decided going to a place, one place, to get information would be a good thing. He started working on it and it has caught on by the people. There are 1000’s of ratings on so many different pets that it helps new pet owners know more now about what they are actually getting. When a person submits a rating they are telling everyone what their pet was like, a first hand experience. That knowledge is far greater than anything a book could tell you.
