Xbox has a new version of the formerly known 1 vs. 100 which allows Xbox Live subscribers to play against each other for points and even prizes! To play, you must be an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, meaning that you pay for your subscription to play online games through Microsoft. You can check your subscription status by selecting "Memberships" under the "My Xbox" section of your Xbox.
There are two versions of the game: Extended Play and Live. Typically Extended Play is a simple version of the game you'll play, shown in green, while the Live Version is shown in a light-orange color, both with dates and times of when the events occur. In this article, I will be talking about the Live version of play, but see my article below for information about Extended Play as well.
In the Live version of play, the game happens live (obviously) with multiple rounds of play. At the first of each round, a random drawing is conducted to choose a featured player known as The One. This player plays against the 100 players which constitute The Mob. Any other players not The One or in The Mob plays as The Crowd.
The One tries to "knockout" all players of The Mob by answering trivia questions correctly and eliminiating all the members of The Mob. If The One fails to do so by the end of the game, the game is considered a draw. Also, if The One answers a question incorrectly, those remaining in The Mob wins and the round is over, and vice-versa. Members of the Mob who miss a question are then sent to The Crowd; they can still play along but are thus eliminated from the game.
Another few twists to the game include the "Money/Mob" feature and "Helps". If The One decides to take The Money, The One wins and the round is over; if The One chooses The Mob, play continues as normal. As for Helps, The One may choose one of three Helps to assist in answering the question; also of note is that Helps are scored just as if The One chose the same answer, meaning, there are no adverse effects to using a Help. This includes "Trust the Mob," "Trust the Crowd," and "Trust the Brain," and they're exactly like they sound.
The Live version usually only happens once-a-week, so be sure to check under the "Game Marketplace" blade of your Xbox to see dates and times. Also, the more times you play with Extended Play, the more sweepstakes entries you get to becoming either The One or a member of The Mob, so be sure to play often.
