Sometimes, it's a mystery as to why a band gets signed, has fans, and gets to play prestigious festivals like this one. Both Cattle Decapitation and The Red Chord are examples of this phenomenon, though in the case of the latter it seems like this band only has months to live given their tepid reaction from the crowd. Metalcore is all but dead, and these guys do a pretty lousy version of it besides. No amount of marketing in mainstream metal magazines will avert this reality past a point.

Cattle Decapitation plays messy football death/grind, but unfortunately it doesn't look like they're going away just yet. Their reaction was considerably better despite their absurd band name and obnoxious performance. The idea that there are entire metal festivals built around bands like these is shudder-inducing.
