Interview with Freddy Jones Band - Questions by Sean Arenas, answered by Marty and Jim
1) Tell us a bit about your band.
It actually formed in 1989 in Chicago, IL. Marty and Wayne brought the band together. Marty and Wayne went to college together.
Jim grew up with Wayne and saw Marty and Wayne playing at a frat house at Indiana University. Rob is Jim's brother and naturally stepped into position. Simon came into the picture when their current drummer couldn't play anymore. He gave Marty and Wayne Simon's number and the rest is history.
2) Where do the band’s musical influences come from?
Mixture of song craftsmanship from great songwriters like Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and Lucinda Williams coupled with great guitar work like Clapton, etc with pop melody and sensibility. Maturity and life experiences have changed some aspects of the song writing but the key influences and concepts are still present.
3) Whose idea was it to bring the band back together after the hiatus?
Wayne was the catalyst behind getting the band back together. We have always kept in touch but talks started to become more frequent when deciding to bring the band back together. We had all matured over the years and were ready to get things rolling again.
4) Tell us about your upcoming summer tour.
We've played at most of these places before. Colorado has always been pretty faithful to us and we love playing out there. Chicago, of course, is always a great time as well. Most of the band lived has lived, or did at point, in Chicago and we all have a lot of friends and family out here.
The Bonaccorsi family is huge and usually accounts for a large part of our audience in the Chicago-land area. The show in Grand Rapids was filled with family and friends of the band. Our guest lists are incredibly long
We usually stay the night in the city we're playing at. We roll in just in time for soundcheck and then go check into our hotels for some food and r&r. We head back to the venue about an hour or so before we go on and make it a point to hang out after our shows to talk and sign things (including body parts).

5) What bands are you playing with on this tour?
We don't have a set support act with us but we're playing with a few local artists at each venue. We played with The Mighty Short Bus in Madison and they killed it! We will also be joining Edwin McCain in Atlanta and Charlotte.
6) It looks like the closest you are getting to Los Angeles on your current tour is Colorado. Have you played in Los Angeles before? Do you have any plans to soon?
Used to tour the west coast a lot. usually play at HOB in LA. Marty is playing a solo acoustic show at O'Briens on Mainstreet on July 23rd. The band is waiting for west coast radio to catch up and hopefully that will bring the band back out west. There have been some opportunities that have arisen but the logistics haven't yet worked out for the band...yet!

7) Fans like bands they can communicate with; I am happy to note that you also like to communicate back to your fans!
We're always open to fan input. The fans are the reason why we continue to make music and tour. Without them, we wouldn't be where we are. Fans can communicate with us on any of the social network sites. We like to communicate back and be involved with our fans so don't be shy when thinking about talking to us, we don't bite.

8) What is the last band Marty and Jim saw in concert?
Marty Lloyd - AC/DC
Jim Bonaccorsi - Jeff Beck at Park West with Tara Okenfeld (killer 21 yr old bass player)
9) Have you ever been asked to autograph body parts? If so, which one(s)? (Thanks @winslowsoul for inspiration for that question, they posted a pic autographing one)
Absolutely. All of the time! Lots of breasts and butts.
10) How do you feel about fans recording videos and posting them on YouTube? I have heard responses from bands ranging from upset and angry to “Just send us the links and record all you like!”
Helps spread the word so we're not too picky on it. As long as Jim's not picking his nose and his mullet is trimmed, everything is a-ok. However, we do enjoy getting the links so that we can share the videos with everyone.
11) Bonus question: ZZ Top comes back from their hiatus with two amazingly long beards. After yours, it looks like everyone is clean-shaven except for one very trim beard. Is your look planned? Was it discussed? Is it intentional?
Hahaha interesting question, but no. We dress and shave just as we would on an average Saturday night out
Thank you for your time.
