WoW Patch 3.1.2 released, hybrid specs dance in the streets
Patch 3.1.2 hit the servers yesterday, and it wasn't gentle, either. Most servers were down for extended maintenance well past the standard 11AM PST. However, the changes this patch brings appear to be well worth the wait.
Equipment Manager
The other shoe drops for hybrid classes, many of whom took the gold-hit and purchased the ability to dual-spec when 3.1 was released. With this addition, they are finally able to switch out gear more easily. The equipment manager did not, however, address storage or bag space, and those who keep their extra sets in the bank will need to hearth back in order to access that gear. Setting up the equipment manager can be confusing for the new player, but overall this is a welcome addition to the game.
Wintergrasp
While there has been some nerf to the amount of honor and Stonekeeper Shards that players can pull out of this PvP zone weekly, it still appears to be a profitable venture. And even if it weren't - it's till the most fun PvP experience to be had, especially for those who typically shy away from inter-player conflict.
Notable Class Changes
- Death Knights: Improved Death Strike Blood-specced DKs will notice a buff to this already potent ability.
- Mages: Mirror Images become much more function as they will now target the mob with the highest threat for the Mage, and will no longer attack mobs under a crowd-control effect.
- Priests: Divine Hymn and Soul Warding get the nerf-bat, and undeservedly so. Since when were Priests overpowered?
- Warlocks: one big change here is to Fire and Brimstone. 'Locks no longer need to time their Conflagrates for optimal crit chance; as long as their target is affected by immolate, Conflag will receive the additional chance to crit. Very good news for Destro 'Locks who were bitter about a playstyle almost as skill-reliant as Affliction.
- Warlocks: are cool enough to be counted as two classes. Whatever, this change needed its own bullet point. The Voidwalker Sacrifice has been retooled to sacrifice only a portion of Big Blue's health for 30 seconds of his master's total magical damage immunity. Additionally, the bubble lasts for 30 seconds and has only a 1 minute cool down.
- Warriors: Juggernaut crit strike chance nerfed, down to 25%.
Other minor bug fixes were also added, and rolling restarts continue on multiple realms throughout the time of this writing.
