The contest, broken into amateur and professional entry levels, was based on four categories:
- PEOPLE: portraits, self-portraits, people in their natural environments
- PERSONAL WORK: fine art, abstract, fun and independent photos
- ANIMALS/PETS: wildlife, pets, critters
- NATURE/OUTDOORS: outdoors, plants, scenic views, the call of the wild

Lovely photos! I'm struck by how many involve the beauty of the natural world. I think EO Wilson was right when he coined the term "biophilia." We are drawn to the curious transformation of our emotional and cognitive state that takes place in the pressense of natural and biologic beauty.
