Wildlife films are probably the most engaging form of entertainment available to the widest variety of people. Film festivals provide an opportunity to see amazing independent works of art by a number of up and coming directors, writers, and filmmakers. The Clyde Goes Wild is a four-day film event that will satisfy both wildlife and independent film enthusiasts.

April 16 through 19, The Clyde Theater in Langley is excited to present the best of the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival (JHWFF). This first-ever partnership with the internationally acclaimed film festival will have Whidbey Island buzzing with folks who are craving new, visual art experiences.

During the four-day event, you'll have the chance to see 11 great nature documentaries that were hand picked by Clyde Theater owners, Blake & Lynn Willeford.

"We screened dozens of films to find the ones we thought most appealing to our patrons. The ones we chose for this mini-festival cover a wide range of topics, including the condo-dwelling red-tailed hawk that won the hearts of New Yorkers, power-hungry monkeys, a band of wolves defending their turf in Yellowstone, and the bizarre things (animal) males will do to attract females. We thank Langley’s Russell Sparkman, a board member of JHWFF, for helping us make the right connections."

Educational Aspect
The mission of the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival is not just to reward great nature films, but also to use them to educate children and adults about the wonders of the natural world and the dangers to its continued health. The Willefords are excited to share a few of the films with South Whidbey Schools.

"So we’ll open “The Clyde Goes WILD!” with a special family-oriented show of three short films with admission by donation to the JHWFF. We will also be bringing the films from our mini-festival over to the South Whidbey Schools for their free use the week afterward—which happens to be Earth Week."

Admission to the films is by festival pass only. Four-pack and ten-pack passes are available. See The Clyde Goes Wild for more details.
