Most people agree that the arts are an important element in education, and the Broadway Bound Children's Theatre has been doing their bit to provide and support theater education to kids in the Seattle area for 12 years. Their productions, summer camps and school programs offer "a transforming experience for children ages 5-18 through participation in a dynamic theater arts program that combines a fun and supportive atmosphere with professional standards. It serves children of all experience levels and from all backgrounds. Broadway Bound challenges children to develop their mental, physical, emotional, social and creative potentials through the joy and discipline of live theater."
On Monday, March 23, Broadway Comes to Broadway Bound, a very special benefit for the Broadway Bound Children's Theatre, will light up the stage in an event that will feature several impressive Broadway stars in what is being billed as "an evening of elegant cabaret." Take a look at the list of performers who are coming to town just for this benefit:
"Guests scheduled to appear include John Treacy Egan, Chef Louis in THE LITTLE MERMAID and Max Bialystock in THE PRODUCERS, Jerry Dixon, Daniel in the original Broadway cast of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, Anne Allgood, Mrs. Potts in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and Rosabella in MOST HAPPY FELLA, Bill Nolte, Franz Liebkind in THE PRODUCERS and Old Deuteronomy in CATS, Rebecca Spencer, Madame Giry in PHANTOM-THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR and Lady Beaconsfield/Emma Carew in JEKYLL AND HYDE, and Brent Barrett, Frank Butler in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN and Billy Flynn in CHICAGO. They will be accompanied by Philip Fortenberry, Broadway's most sought after pianist and currently the conductor of JERSEY BOYS in Las Vegas."
The venue for this stage spectacular is the Broadway Performance Hall located at 1625 Broadway. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, which are included in the ticket price, will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $75 or $125 for two. Several of the youngsters of Broadway Bound's programs will also perform, and this is a rare opportunity to see a lot of talent sharing a stage. It's also a great way to support the arts and the kids of Seattle.
Lastly, there is also an auction being held for the opportunity to appear on stage with a couple of the stars. The first auction to sing a duet with John Treacy Egan has already closed, but there's still a chance to sing a duet of "Broadway Baby" with Jerry Dixon, and the bidding just opened for the opportunity to "be serenaded onstage by Brent Barrett, the Phantom himself, as he passionately sings MUSIC OF THE NIGHT to you and you alone!"
