Whether in a kayak or a canoe, paddle sports use different muscles than required for other activities.  It's been a long winter in Big Bear and you may not be ready to jump into your kayak to take off for a paddle around the lake.

Annalisa Berns at Equada Yoga in the Big Bear Lake Village can help.  Wednesday evenings, 5:45 - 7:00 pm, she is offering KaYoga, movements for paddlers.

During the class, Annalisa uses yoga poses that strengthen and stretch the muscles needed for paddling.  The class builds tone and flexibility, improving your paddling and helping to avoid injuries and muscle strain.  With greater flexibility in hips and back, paddling becomes more comfortable.

The ability to rotate your body comfortably is key to kayak paddling without pain.  The class concentrates on this area, using breath with yoga poses that build strength and flexibility, so your entire body is strong and ready for a day on the lake.

Seasoned kayakers, those who are thinking of taking up paddle sports, and canoers who only paddle on weekends will each benefit from the class.

If you have a canoe or kayak paddle available, bring it to class.

KaYoga is each Wednesday evening from 5:45 - 7:00 pm at the Equada Yoga Studio, 663 Pine Knot Avenue, in the Village of Big Bear Lake.   The cost for the class is $12.00.

To get ready for paddling under the full moon, a day, or even a few hours on Big Bear Lake this summer, Equada Yoga's KaYoga class helps improve your paddle sports experience.

This is an awesome idea! So real to implement the paddle with traditional yoga poses. I will definitely attend KaYoga in Big Bear next time I can.

Annalisa is a superb yoga teacher! I have taken several classes with her and am consistently amazed at her knowledge of postures to help any given situation, as well as her willingness to adapt postures to make them comfortable and beneficial for everybody. This class should be fantastic!
