Fun in Big Bear!
Big Bear is hopping. Visitors to the mountains this weekend will have plenty of choices for fun things to do.
Spaghetti dinner fundraiser
Thursday from noon until 9:00 pm, the Old Country Inn will be hosting "Spaghetti with a Purpose", a fundraiser for the Big Bear Valley Historical Society. Dinner is $5.99 with the proceeds going to the museum building expansion fund. Drop in to the Old Country Inn at 41126 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear Lake to support the museum.
Amgen Tour of California
Of course, Friday is Big Bear's big day. The Amgen Tour of California will finish stage 6 of the race at Snow Summit. Get here early to get your seat at the finish line. Enjoy the Lifestyle Expo and the Big Bear Cycling Expo before the race. Parking will be limited. The closest lot is at Garstin and Fox Farm Rd. The fee to park for the day will be $10.00.
Still more fun!
After the race, there's still plenty to do. Saturday, cycling fans can race or just peddle through 5 road and 5 mountain bicycling courses around the valley in the Tour de Big Bear. There are courses for all levels, including families, intermediate and super enthusiasts. Register ahead of time for a t-shirt, VIP parking for Friday's race, and other benefits.
Both Saturday and Sunday, the National Forest Association's Big Bear Discovery Center will be offering canoe and kayak tours, nature walks, and a free Intro to Geocaching workshop. Reservations are required and there is a fee for some activities. Go to the website or drop by the Discovery Center at 40971 N Shore Drive, in Fawnskin to get additional information.
To round out your weekend, golf at the Bear Mountain Golf Course, drop in to the Mountain Wedding Tour, Sunday noon until 6:00 pm, or relax with great music and good food at Music at the Mansion, held at the Knickerbocker Mansion, at 3:00 pm on Sunday.
