Fossil Rim’s 1,700-acre preserve is the perfect backdrop for a memorable two-day photography workshop weekend. The amateur or professional photographer will have many opportunities for behind the scenes photos.
Fossil Rim’s endangered species are exotic and beautiful. Many of the Wildlife Center’s 59 species of animals are among the most rare in the world. White rhinos, the red wolf, the greater kudu and the aoudad call Fossil Rim their home.
Participants will stay overnight at the Safari camp. The tented cabins are located near the river where many of the animals freely roam. They offer spectacular sunset views with rolling hills. There are also flat areas resembling the African savannah that offer spectacular views.
Barry Baker, a digital photographer instructor from the University of Texas at Arlington, is heading up the Fossil Rim workshop. The class includes a 3-4 hour discussion covering the different aspects of wildlife photography. Afterwards there’s a tour conducted at dusk. The group will return to the Foothills Safari Camp for a delicious dinner and photo evaluation. The overnight stay in the tented cabins is comfortable; yet, they have an actual safari feel. During dawn on Sunday, the group will enjoy breakfast at the camp before heading out for the best light. At noon there’s a sack lunch and dismissal. This adventure will give you great photos and memories.
