Last night a candlelight vigil was held for slain DePaul Senior, Francisco Valencia. Valencia was shot early Sunday morning at a Halloween party on the city's Northwest side. Police are still searching for the gunman and believe Valencia wasn't the intended target.
Valencia and fellow DePaul senior Daisy Camacho, came down the stairs to let guests into the party when gunfire shots were aimed in their direction. Camacho was also shot and is in stable condition.
On the quad of DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus 400 DePaul students and faculty surrounded a small stage that held Valencia's family members to honor his memory.
Valencia was well-known among the DePaul community and was involved in many on-campus organizations. He was expected to graduate June 2010.
