That's right, Bethesda. Not the first place that comes to mind when you think of a swanky bash in the metro area. But, much to the delight of everyone in attendance, Lebanese Taverna on Arlington Road provided just the right backdrop for a star studded launch of publicists Sherry Moeller and Dannia Hakki's new PR agency, MoKi Media.
As the former editor and chief of the DC based Capitol File Magazine and editorial director for Washington Spaces, Sherry Moeller undoubtedly has a firm grasp of Washington's arts and cultural scene. She will be heading up the design end of the firm, while Hakki, who joins Moeller after gaining experience at New York City's SHADOW PR, will be focusing on MoKi Media's entertainment, hospitality, fashion and beauty end of things.
MoKi Media, a combination of Moeller and Hakki's last names, already has an impressive list of VIP clients including R&B Artist Ginuwine and his wife Sole, Jazz Musician Marcus Johnson, Celebrity Plastic Surgeon Dr. Ayman Hakki, Jim Rill and Rill Architects, Bob Zupko of Robert Andrew Salon & Spa, and Interior Designers Christopher Boutlier and Mary Douglas Drysdale. All were on hand Wednesday night to celebrate with the dynamic duo.
Other familiar faces included WUSA 9 news anchors Angie Goff and Andrea Roane, Washington Post Live's Ivan Carter, NBC news anchor Craig Melvin, ABC news anchor Cynne Simpson, celebrity trainer Mark Jenkins, Go-Go legend DJ Mello T, WKYS 93.9's Jeannie Jones, blogger and former Miss District of Columbia Kate Michael, and the Vice President of the World Bank Marwan Muasher.
Amidst the sleek, contemporary décor of Lebanese Taverna, invited guests were treated to an open bar featuring Piper-Heidsieck French Champagne, Sapporo Japanese Beer, and mixed cocktails including The Macallan Whisky and Cointreau Orange Liqueur. A delicious selection of Taverna's famed hors d'oeuvres were served as well as a fantastic chocolate cake by vegan bakery Sticky Fingers. Attendees received gift bags filled with lots of little treats from MoKi Media and their partners.
