This Thanksgiving weekend was abuzz with many artistic events to choose from in Jacksonville. There was the big arts & crafts exhibit in the Prime Osborn Center, the lighting of the Christmas tree at The Landing and the 2009 Light Parade on the river followed by fireworks. And right in the midst of the excitement was the Riverside Arts Market, our local weekly event.
Every Saturday from 10-4, you can stroll along the river among artisans displaying all genre of art - from glass to wood, planters to homemade soaps, performance art to exhibitions. This weekend was no exception. There was something for everyone. Whole families came out for a day of crisp fresh air and lots of free entertainment. They shopped from local farmers for fresh fair for their dinner table and unusual gifts for that someone special. From every area of the market, music flowed in the wind. People sat by the river and listened to a full band or wandered further up the lane of vendors to the balloon clowns or street performers.
This weeks event brought us Rocco and his superhuman comedy. Every hour he entertained the crowd with silly tricks and gravity-defying feats of strength. Young and old alike enjoyed his jovial show and those of the other performers that shared their talents with all who attended.
Join the fun
If you haven't been to the Riverside Arts Market yet, you have until December 19th. Don't miss out on one of Jacksonville's best weekly events - Rain or Shine!
