UN will attempt to ban speech on religion - especially Islam

The United Nations has adopted what it calls a "Resolution to Combat Defamation of Religion", according to a Lou Dobbs report which can be seen in the video below. This attempt would generally be used to to keep people from bad mouthing Islam. However, that’s where any enforcement would probably stop. Christianity would be left to fend for itself when it was defamed.

"The U.N. now wants to make this anti-blasphemy resolution binding on member nations, including, the United States. It would then be a crime in the United States ... to criticize religion, in particular, Islam." This time, instead, the resolution wouldn't allow nations to opt out, if approved, it would be mandatory to member nations.

Even Lou Dobbs, one of the few Conservative thinkers at CNN has had it with the UN.  The UN has become what I call a ‘third world dictator’ on U.S. soil. Recently I wrote an article called Satan's helper sits on the banks of the East River where I noted the obvious hypocrisy of the UN and how it caters to third world dictatorships.

    This is scary!!!

Christians and non-believers alike should stand up to this violation of free speech.

America affords us the right of free speech, which includes the right to speak against other ideas, including religions!

This is THE perfect example of what atheists have been saying for a long time now... That freedom OF religion requires freedom FROM religion!!!

The problem isn't the UN; the UN just reflects the attitudes of its member states. The problem is religious radicals who want to be able to impose their ideas on others without having to fear challenge and criticism.

The US should, of course, reject this. We should also reject other, similar intrusions into our liberties, from organizations like the WTO.

But let's not forget that we are responsible for creating a lot of these problems. It was US interventions and support that allowed Islamic radicals to come to power. And our own Christian radicals here in the US are trying to restrict free speech in the US as well.

Yes, this UN proposal is outrageous. What if gays and lesbians decided to call themselves a religion that favored such lifestyles?.... according to the UN we would be unable to criticize it, for fear of offending their "religion".

...What if Conservative Republicans started calling themselves a religion too? (Like they already practically are!) Then no-one could question THEIR beliefs either!
