The Robin Hood priest: Tells poor to steal from major stores!

According to folklore, Robin Hood stole from the rich-gave to the poor!

Anglican priest, Rev Tim Jones tells the poor this; 'My advice, as a Christian priest, is to shoplift'.  Jones told this to stunned parishioners in the northern English city of York.  He said that stealing from successful shops was preferable to burglary, robbery or prostitution, and that poor people struggling to survive should steal food and other essentials from shops, rather than raise money through prostitution, burglary or mugging.

Is this the only kind of sage advice that can come from the Anglican church?

Britain's Daily Mail reported , "He told parishioners it would not break the eighth commandment 'thou shalt not steal' because it 'is permissible for those who are in desperate situations to take food that they might not starve.'   Whoops!  So much for God providing for us.  The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that he said, "'My advice, as a Christian priest, is to shoplift,' he told his stunned congregation at St Lawrence and St Hilda in York."

Of course, the good (?) Rev. Jones added, "I do not offer such advice because I think that stealing is a good thing, or because I think it is harmless, for it is neither." He said that people shouldn't steal from small, family businesses, but from large national businesses.  What's your motive Rev. Jones?  Stealing is stealing no matter who, where or when it is done!  And, it is truly a violation of the eighth. Commandment.

By most Christian view points, this would make Rev. Jones culpable in the crimes himself.  Should he serve time if one of those who heard his message that day steals from a store and is caught?  The big question is this; should he even be a priest after such a sermon.  His sermon that day should have been that God provides for everyone, because his eye is on the Sparrow.

    RE: pagan heathen;

    Don't confuse Christianity with Jewish law. Christians are no longer "under the law", meaning Jewish law, we are under grace, but we must still obey and will also have to answer for our sins!
