According to Breitbart News, a teacher in a Massachusetts school was so concerned about the "violent" picture that an 8 year old boy drew as part of a Christmas drawing exercise that the school sent him home and was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation.
The picture he drew? Jesus on the cross! The teacher, apparently ignorant of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was alarmed unnecessarily. The father said in the days before the incident the family had gone to the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro, where there are crucifixion statues.
An overreaction by the teacher and the school? Absolutely! They may have lots of "book learnin'", but what happened to common sense? This 8 year old boy was traumatized because someone just didn't ask questions and just assumed they were wiser.
Many schools and teachers over the last few years have been bringing embarrassment upon themselves unnecessarily because they just don't think things through in situations like this, or they simply are anti-Christian in their views.
According to the article, the boy has been traumatized by this event. When this kind of a stupid thing happens to an 8 year old, and is brought on by adults who should know better, it usually has lingering effects. So, the question must be asked, does the school have liability here?

This is sad! Don't teachers even ask simple questions when they come upon something like this rather than overreacting and taking harsh steps to "cure" the ill? I'm sure the child could have explained his picture in terms even the teacher could have understood! What has this country come to?
It's amazing to me that a school teacher could be so clueless about Christianity -- a world religion!
If somebody came up to you on the street and said they believed that the torture and human sacrifice of a man 2000 years ago made it possible to be absolved of their sin regardless of what crime they commit, would you walk away from them or move closer? hmmm... I thought so.
I'd have them committed to a mental hospital if I didn't know any better.
The teacher did the right thing. The Christian support for this horrible torture and sacrifice is sick and should not be tolerated.
But, yeah, he drew HIMSELF on the Cross, not Jesus on the Cross (look at the sign over the head of the crucified figure). It's probably nothing to panic over, but it's worth having a psychologist look into.
I think the reaction by this teacher was selective, not objective. Where did her response follow written protocol?
Where is all this "tolerance" that is preached in this hypocritical culture?
The U.S. practices torture in the 21st century. And yet, those who believe God's Son died for their sins are treated as "unbalanced"?
These people need a lesson in CIVIL RIGHTS.
Trying to DICTATE what a person may believe is not only against our highest law, it is "unbalanced".
Got something to say?
