North Dakota pro-lifers hang hopes on 'Personhood Referendum'

“The state shall afford the equality and inherent rights guaranteed to individuals in section 1 of article 1 of the Constitution of North Dakota to all human beings from the beginning of their biological development, including the pre-born, partially born….”. That is how part of the North Dakota House Resolution 1572 is worded.

With that statement, if passed, North Dakota pro-life advocates would then have a foundation to begin another campaign to make the resolution into law and therefore protect the lives of the unborn, and those who have been “born alive” during an abortion procedure.

The pro-choice movement will not stand long for this kind of proposed legislation without a fight. Abortion is hideous to say the least. My own observations of 4 dimensional ultrasound (shown below) of babies in their mothers womb should be ample evidence that life begins at conception.

State Rep. Dan Ruby introduced House Resolution 1572 (ND) and was written with the assistance of Personhood USA, which is a grassroots Christian group working to enact “personhood” legislation across the country.

Personhood USA who helped get the Resolution formulated and introduced into the Legislature follows the Presidential Proclamation of Ronald Reagan in 1988. His Proclamation reads as follows.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim and declare the unalienable personhood of every American, from the moment of conception until natural death, and I do proclaim, ordain, and declare that I will take care that the Constitution and laws of the United States are faithfully executed for the protection of America's unborn children.”

    Seems sort of Orwellian. I don't understand why all these groups and measures obscure the truth of what they're actually trying to accomplish, always with the language they choose. "Traditional", "American," now "Personhood."

    But why stop at conception when considering life? It's as arbitrary as not considering the egg or the spermatozoon, and when we consider the billions upon billions of potentialities for that one egg, why, it's a "genocide" for just one human to arise at birth.

    The scary part is that just that one egg fertilized could become Obama#2. Ouch!

    Enforcing women to carry a child they do not want would violate the 13th amendment prohibiting involuntary servitude. Pregnancy is an invasive condition that changes you physically, causes pain, and even makes you sick. No one should have to endure that if they don't want to. Moreover, even extending rights to fertilize eggs still goes against bodily integrity. Asking a woman to share her body with another person against her will is akin to forcing a sibling to give up a kidney.

    Thank God for the ones who passed this bill! Pray for the same bill to pass in South Carolina. God is watching this you know!

    I have some huge questions here that may ugely affect the solvency of this bill. If a conceived fetus is also a child and is afforded full rights, that means it's entitled to forms of public health care that are available (for low income and things) the presence of the fetus and the food it requires would have to open up the woman for extra food stamps. Are these things then going to happen? If it is considered a human child, they must. I think these things will heavily affect the solvency of this bill when the supreme court gets its look at it.

    RE: ADAM D. SEIDEL;

    Adam, if you have viewed the video, then you should understand just why a "fetus" should be considered a person.

    If after watching it and you still don't agree about "personhood", then you must live in a very dark place.

    Yes, I believe that a "fetus" should be given ALL of the protections of a person who has gone through the complete cycle of birth.

    Did you ever see photos of an aborted baby? If not, you should. And "partial birth abortion" is especially hideous.

    RE: TJ;

    So you approve of murder of the unborn just because the child was a 'mistake'. What about your Mom? She thought enough of you to keep you! What if she would have decided differently?

    Then should the mother then be prosecuted for being stupid, or having sex, or perhaps you think that she should be sterilized so this does not happen again.........hmmmmm! Where does the stupidity end?
